About Us

Starting in the early 1940’s, Mr. A.M. (Jack) Bryant was busy in the constuctuion business. With the help of his seven sons, which consisted of carpenters, plumbers, electricians and finishers, they built many of the schools in the county including the old Summerville High School, Pennville School and Center Post School. They also constructed the Summerville City Hall, JD Hill Funeral Home, the first Housing Authority apartments in Summerville and several residential homes. In 1945, Mr. Jack, with the help of his seven sons and three daughters, started Bryant & Sons Lumber Co. In 1951, Mr. Bryant suffered a stroke and his sons took over the day-to-day operations of the business. Years later Norman Bryant became the owner of the store. After working in the business for fifty years, he retired in 2000 turning the business over to his three sons Dennis, Anthony and Alan. Anthony’s son, Landon, is the fourth generation Bryant to work for the family business.
